Dungeon Crawler (MEng, Unreal 4)

This project was based on the idea of telling a story through environmental interactions and ambiance.

I decided that I would make a series of puzzles which the player must complete in order to proceed. The environment is a dwarven mine, which has partially collapsed. In this first puzzle, three switches must be in the correct position to open the door.

In this second puzzle, the player must use the torch to fetch the yellow flame and activate the rising floor.

Once the player has the red flame the other door activates, but a sword is jammed in the cogs.

Once the sword is collected, the door opens and the player must use the valves to get the correct pressure in the system. The drawbridge will then drop down, allowing the player to get the blue flame.

Once the blue flame has been collected, the floor puzzle will activate. The player must traverse the lava to the island and collect the green flame.

Once this has been returned, the doors will open allowing access to the flame corridor. By using the indicators on the pipes the player must get through unharmed and fetch the purple flame.

Upon returning this flame, the sequence is complete and the floor becomes an elevator, ending the level.
